Judging Criteria and Rules

The Visit Maldives Hackathon, organized by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) in partnership with SparkHub, will evaluate projects based on six key criteria. These criteria are designed to foster innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement in the Maldivian tourism industry.

Evaluation Criteria

Innovation and Originality

This criterion assesses the uniqueness of the proposed solution, the creative approach to addressing the chosen challenge, and the potential competitive advantage or novel approach to sustainable tourism. Solutions that demonstrate originality in their conception and execution will be highly regarded.

Technological Excellence and Data Utilization

Judges will evaluate the integration of advanced technologies such as AI, AR/VR, and data analytics. The effective use of tools, data, or systems to enhance functionality will be considered, along with innovative applications of technology to address specific tourism challenges in the Maldives.

Impact and Feasibility

This category examines the potential impact of the solution within the Maldivian tourism context. Judges will assess the practical applicability to real-world challenges and how the solution enhances traveler experiences, improves operational efficiency, or contributes to sustainability efforts in the tourism sector.

Market Potential and Scalability

Projects will be evaluated on their potential to attract funding for further development and their viability as sustainable business models. Scalability within the Maldives and potential for expansion to other global tourism markets will be key considerations.

Product Validation and User Experience

This criterion focuses on the thoroughness of solution testing across various scenarios, the integration of customer feedback mechanisms, and the consistency in meeting user needs. Solutions that demonstrate a user-centric approach and robust validation processes will be favored.

Presentation and Team Performance

The final presentation's clarity, professionalism, and overall impact will be assessed. Judges will evaluate team collaboration and idea execution throughout the hackathon. The quality of live prototype demonstrations will play a crucial role in this category.
