Code of Conduct

Respect and Professionalism

Participants are expected to treat all individuals with courtesy and respect, maintaining a professional demeanor throughout the hackathon. Offensive remarks, discriminatory jokes, and any form of harassment are strictly prohibited. Respect for participants' privacy is paramount; consent must be obtained before photographing or recording others.

Inclusivity and Consideration

The hackathon values diverse opinions and perspectives. Participants must recognize and respect the right of each individual to their own viewpoint. The event embraces the diversity of backgrounds and skills represented, fostering an environment where all contributions are valued.

Collaboration and Openness

A welcoming environment for participants of all skill levels is essential. Attendees are encouraged to share knowledge and insights freely with fellow participants. Consideration of open-source practices and the potential for code reusability is encouraged to align with the hackathon's goals of fostering innovation in sustainable tourism.

Commitment to Excellence

Participants are expected to strive for excellence in their work and have confidence in their abilities. The hackathon recognizes that each participant, regardless of skill level, can make valuable contributions to addressing the challenges presented in the three key themes: enhancing traveler experiences, advancing technology in tourism, and promoting AI-driven sustainability solutions.

Responsible Conduct

Actions that disturb others or cause public disturbances are prohibited. Participants must refrain from damaging or destroying property. Those responsible for any damage will be held accountable and may be asked to leave the event, potentially forfeiting their security deposit.

Anti-Harassment Policy

Harassment in any form is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, inappropriate verbal comments related to personal characteristics or identity, display of explicit images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unauthorized photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Adherence to this code of conduct is mandatory for all participants. Violations may result in expulsion from the event without refund of the security deposit, at the discretion of the organizers. This code of conduct ensures that the Visit Maldives Hackathon remains a platform for innovation, collaboration, and respect, aligning with MMPRC's vision for a sustainable and inclusive tourism industry.
